HOW TO DO IT
Pre-Brew
- Fill brew carafe w/hot water to pre-warm it
- Measure 75g or 7 scoops of coffee (17:1 water to coffee ratio)
- Grind coffee & add to filter (medium)
- Fill reservoir with water & discard hot water from carafe
- If brew carafe sits on a hotplate & you do not plan to drink all of your coffee immediately, consider pouring your coffee into a thermal carafe once brew is complete (pre-warm thermal carafe w/hot water before adding coffee)
Brewing
- Turn machine on to brew (different machines have different features)
- If carafe is not insulated & sits on a hot plate, turn off hot plate or machine once done brewing
- Pour coffee into pre-warmed thermal carafe if planning to keep coffee hot for a while
Tips
- If coffee is not to taste, try adjust grind coarseness accordingly before adjusting amount of coffee
- A standard cup of coffee is 5-6oz on most drip coffee machines
- A tablespoon is equal to 5g of coffee & a coffee scoop is equal to 2 tablespoons (10g coffee)
- Don’t forget to clean your machine regularly as coffee residue, hard water buildup & even bacteria (gross) can affect the taste of your coffee. You’ll find a great tutorial here
- The beans do make a difference! Buying your coffee whole bean is always better than pre-ground coffee. Grind your beans at home if you want the a more flavorful extraction from your coffee brewing.
